Course Description

  • Mechanical Engineering provides a broad base of theory courses and practical design projects
  • Students will enter Mechanical Engineering in their second year from the first-year General Engineering that is common to all Engineering programs
  • In the final year, students can take courses in engineering economics and data analysis, controls, professional engineering practice, as well as complementary studies and technical electives
  • A year-long design course enables learners to complete real design projects for local companies
  • Graduates’ career opportunities will vary widely across a range of fields including aerospace, automotive, renewable energy, oil and gas, automation, mechatronics, aviation and marine management, product design, and others

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements

Graduation from a university-preparatory program at a senior secondary school 

  • Standing in at least six academic subject areas (GCSE, AS Levels, A Levels), including English, with at least three academic A Levels or six AS Levels. A subject may not be counted at both A Level and GCSE.
  • A Level and AS Level courses that are not sufficiently academic in content (as determined by UBC) cannot be used.
  • A minimum grade of C in English Literature or English Language at the GCSE, AS, or A Level.
